Call Your Insurance Company

Call Your Insurance Company
Better Claim Results When Policyholders Call

The number one question we receive as contractors working on insurance claim repairs is, "When can you get started." This depends on who is paying for the work. For example, on remodeling projects, we work on a detailed scope and cost with the customer. When the customer is paying we outline payment terms and a schedule of work. The customer pays a deposit and as we meet our contractural benchmarks they pay.

When insurance is involved in this process, there are more steps involved. Our ARES team prides itself in usually inspecting a project within three business days of contacting a customer. Once we complete our detailed inspection, utilizing geospatial technology and a thorough process to capture the damage details, we strive to produce our insurance claim repair estimates within three business days of our visit. We know this is faster than most of our competition.

Our team at ARES follows up with the insured and the insurance company at least once a week, usually on Tuesdays. But, we have no control over how quickly the insurance company responds to acknowledge, review, or approve our estimate for repairs. This is where the customer calling their insurance company, usually within two to three business days of us sending our estimate, and following up at least once a week helps to encourage a more expedient result.

Why is it important to call your insurance company?

Following up with your insurance company after filing a homeowner's insurance claim is crucial for ensuring that your claim receives prompt attention and resolution. Here's why it's important to stay proactive and engaged throughout the claims process:

  1. Maintaining Momentum: While filing a claim initiates the process, following up helps maintain momentum. Insurance companies handle numerous claims simultaneously, and yours might get lost in the shuffle without periodic reminders. Following up serves as a gentle nudge, reminding the insurer of your claim's importance and prompting them to prioritize its resolution.

  2. Clarifying Information: Following up allows you to clarify any information or documentation requirements that may be necessary for processing your claim. Sometimes, additional details or evidence might be needed to validate your claim or determine the extent of coverage. By staying in touch, you can promptly provide any requested information, preventing unnecessary delays.

  3. Ensuring Adherence to Timelines: Insurance policies often specify timelines within which claims must be processed and resolved. Following up helps ensure that your claim progresses within these stipulated timeframes. If there are any delays or deviations from the expected timeline, following up allows you to inquire about the reasons behind the delay and seek assurances regarding the resolution timeline.

  4. Addressing Potential Issues: Following up provides an opportunity to address any potential issues or concerns that may arise during the claims process. Whether it's disputes over coverage, valuation of damages, or delays in assessments, proactive communication allows you to voice your concerns and seek clarification from the insurer. Addressing these issues promptly can prevent them from escalating and prolonging the claims process.

Calling Insurance Helps Reduce the Claim Timeline

  1. Expediting Adjustments and Payments: Following up can help expedite the adjustment and payment of your claim. By staying engaged with the claims adjuster, you can ensure that they have all the necessary information to assess the damages accurately and expedite the processing of your claim. Additionally, following up on the status of payments can help expedite the disbursement of funds, allowing you to initiate repairs or replacements promptly.

  2. Demonstrating Engagement and Commitment: Following up demonstrates your engagement and commitment to the claims process. It sends a message to the insurance company that you are actively involved and invested in the resolution of your claim. This proactive approach may encourage the insurer to allocate resources and prioritize your claim, leading to a faster resolution.

  3. Facilitating Communication: Following up fosters open communication between you and your insurance company. It provides an opportunity to stay informed about the progress of your claim, receive updates on any developments, and seek clarification on any uncertainties. Effective communication can help prevent misunderstandings and ensure that both parties are on the same page throughout the claims process.

  4. Protecting Your Rights: Following up safeguards your rights as a policyholder. By actively participating in the claims process and advocating for your interests, you reduce the risk of potential disputes or discrepancies that could affect the outcome of your claim. It also ensures that you are aware of your rights under the insurance policy and can take appropriate action if they are not being upheld.

The more you call your insurance company, the better the chances you experience a more expedient claims process.

In conclusion, following up with your insurance company after filing a homeowner's insurance claim is essential for ensuring that your claim is addressed in a timely and efficient manner. By staying proactive, engaged, and communicative throughout the claims process, you can expedite the resolution of your claim, address any issues or concerns that arise, and protect your rights as a policyholder. If you want to help expedite the insurance claim timeline, follow up with your insurance carrier and continue to do so at least once a week.
